St. Jérôme, June 6, 2011 – The Centre de formation du transport routier Saint Jérôme (CFTR) and the Centre de Formation en Transport de Charlesbourg (CFTC) are very pleased to introduce the first edition of the student championships: the 2011 Student Championships.
The objective of this event based on the Championnat des chauffeurs professionnels du Québec of the Association du Camionnage du Québec (ACQ) is to recognize and highlight students who obtain a vocational diploma in the Truck Driver Training Program. During the 2011 Student Championships held on May 14, a series of tests on a closed circuit were held. The knowledge of the participants—students and instructors—who were previously selected according to a set of criteria, was assessed in a written exam on the Highway Safety Code. The participants’ truck driving skills were also assessed.
The Association du Camionnage du Québec (ACQ), the Association sectorielle transport entreposage (ASTE) and the Comité sectoriel de main d’oeuvre de l’industrie du transport routier au Québec (Camo route) participated in the 2011 Student Championships by providing bursaries for the winners.

Directors Bernard Boulé of the CFTR and Eddy Vallières of the CFTC and partners, employers, instructors and employees would like to congratulate the students and instructors for giving their best performances during the 2011 Student Championships, which were a perfect opportunity to test the skills of CFTR and CFTC students and instructors.
The event also included the Employer Fair, which gave students a worthwhile opportunity to have discussions, meet transportation industry employers and give prospective employers their resumés. By mixing business with pleasure, the Open House event gave visitors an opportunity to get to know the CFTR as well as go for rides in the big trucks.
